  1. Rare South American monkey, genus Cacajao, of
  2. which there are three species. They have bald
  3. faces and long fur. About 55 cm/1.8 ft long
  4. in head and body, and with a comparatively
  5. short 15 cm/6 in tail, they rarely leap, but
  6. are good climbers, remaining in the tops of
  7. the trees in swampy forests and feeding
  8. largely on fruit. The black uakari is in
  9. danger of extinction because it is found in
  10. such small numbers already, and the forests
  11. where it lives are fast being destroyed.
